The future of healthcare was on display at Miami Marketta on 23 July as eight emerging HealthTech founders took to the stage for the 2026 LX Health Demo Night, highlighting the innovation and entrepreneurial talent growing within the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct.
More than a pitch night, Demo Night marked the culmination of Cohort Innovation Space‘s 14-week accelerator program designed to help founders transform promising ideas into commercially viable businesses.
Supporting startups is a critical part of the Precinct’s innovation ecosystem. Alongside world-leading research, clinical expertise and industry partnerships, programs like LuminaX (LX) bridge the gap between discovery and commercialisation, ensuring new ideas have the support, networks and expertise needed to reach the market and improve lives.
In six years, LuminaX has accelerated 60 Australian startups, deploying direct capital through the program’s VC partners and mentor network, while providing hands-on guidance and access to a network of over 1,000 clinicians, experts, founders, and industry partners.
This year’s cohort showcased innovations spanning biotech, digital health, medical devices and sportstech, tackling challenges ranging from preventative healthcare and diagnostics to improving access to specialist care. Their progress highlights not only the breadth of Australia’s Healthtech sector, but also the important role the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct plays in helping innovative companies grow.
Ketim Technologies was recognised as the LX Startup of the Year 2026 for its development of the world’s first predictive blood test for postpartum depression. Sonorus received the LX Fans’ Favourite Award for its AI-powered medical device to non-invasively screen for rheumatic heart disease, with a focus on reaching communities where access to diagnosis has traditionally been difficult.
Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct Director Craig Rowsell said supporting entrepreneurs was essential to building a thriving innovation ecosystem.
“Innovation happens when people come together. Programs like LuminaX are so important for the Precinct because they give founders access to the knowledge, networks and partnerships that help turn their great ideas into businesses with tremendous potential”
The Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct is proud to support LuminaX alongside the Queensland Government through Economic Development Queensland, Invest Gold Coast and QIC, Griffith University, the NRL, and the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service.
