The Gold Coast’s sporting community came together recently to celebrate the 57th Gold Coast Sports Awards, recognising the people, organisations and innovations shaping the region’s success.

For the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct, the night was a strong reflection of something we’re seeing more and more. The connection between sport, innovation and industry is continuing to grow.

From established clubs to emerging technologies, the breadth of talent on display highlighted how the Gold Coast is evolving as a centre for both performance and innovation.

It was great to see Southport Sharks recognised as Club of the Year, alongside strong representation from the region’s growing SportsTech community. Companies like PitchUp, awarded Sports Technology and Innovation of the Year, and nominees including NUAXION and Gatho, reflect the strength of the pipeline emerging locally.

Many of these organisations are connected through the broader ecosystem, from innovation programs to research partnerships and industry collaboration.

The evening also brought together partners from across the precinct and beyond, including Griffith University, Invest Gold Coast, The Australian Sports Technologies Network (ASTN) and others, reinforcing the importance of connection in building a thriving sports and innovation landscape.

While the awards celebrate achievement, they also point to something bigger.

The Gold Coast is continuing to build momentum as a place where sport, technology and innovation intersect. From elite performance through to commercialisation and product development, the ecosystem is expanding, and opportunities are growing with it.

As we look ahead to Brisbane 2032, that momentum is only set to accelerate.
