SME Boost Innovation Voucher launched at the Precinct

The Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct was pleased to host the official launch of the SME Boost Innovation Voucher at Griffith University, bringing together partners focused on supporting local business innovation.

Developed by Griffith University in partnership with Community Bank Paradise Point (Bendigo Bank), the initiative is designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises turn ideas into practical outcomes through collaboration with university expertise.

Backed by $25,000 in funding, the pilot program will provide up to five local businesses with vouchers of up to $5,000 to undertake short-term, high-impact projects.

Turning ideas into outcomes

The program focuses on making innovation more accessible and practical for SMEs.

Participants will work closely with Griffith researchers, students and facilities, including the advanced manufacturing and prototyping capabilities of the ADaPT Institute. Projects may include product development, testing, feasibility studies and market validation, delivered over three to six months with a strong focus on real-world outcomes.

Strengthening collaboration

Hosting the launch at the Precinct highlighted the importance of collaboration between industry, research and community.

Initiatives like this help reduce barriers for businesses looking to innovate, while strengthening connections across the ecosystem. By linking SMEs with research capability and infrastructure, the program supports a more connected and capable innovation environment on the Gold Coast.

What’s next

With applications now closed for the first round, attention turns to the selected SMEs and the projects that will take shape in the coming months.

We look forward to sharing the impact of this initiative as it supports local businesses to test ideas, build capability and grow.
