Why do researchers cross the world to build their lives and careers on the Gold Coast?

What makes someone leave everything familiar behind to pursue a research career on the other side of the world?

For Dr Ronak Reshamwala and Dr Francesca Oieni, the answer began with an opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking spinal cord injury research at Griffith University.

Originally from India and Italy, they each found more than an exciting research project. They discovered a collaborative community within the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct, where researchers, clinicians and industry work in close proximity, and where meaningful careers can be built alongside a great lifestyle.

As we celebrate 25 years of the precinct, their story offers a glimpse into why talented people choose to come here, and what makes them stay.
