Griffith University’s Institute for Biomedicine and Glycomics (IBG) and Burnet Institute have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen biomedical research, innovation and health outcomes.

Announced at the AusBiotech International Conference on the Gold Coast, the partnership will combine complementary expertise across infectious diseases, global health, diagnostics, drug and vaccine discovery, precision medicine and research translation to advance next-generation health technologies.

The collaboration will create opportunities for joint research programs, workforce development and the translation of scientific discoveries into new diagnostics, treatments and vaccines.

An early focus will be the development of a novel diagnostic platform with potential applications in cancer and infectious diseases. By bringing together Burnet’s diagnostic development capabilities and Griffith’s therapeutic research strengths, the partnership aims to accelerate promising discoveries towards clinical application.

The collaboration will also strengthen biomedical research capabilities within the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct and beyond.
